The MIT Sloan Healthcare and BioInnovations Conference is an annual, student-led event that brings together industry, academic, investment, and policy leaders from around the healthcare ecosystem to discuss key issues in the healthcare industry. Attendees will enjoy hearing from speakers and panelists from industry luminaries to serial entrepreneurs, whom they can interact with during virtual networking sessions. Conference themes vary from year to year and address the most cutting-edge and pressing issues in the healthcare world.

This year, we are hosting our 19th annual conference virtually on February 26, 2021. We are happy to announce our three incredibly accomplished Keynote Speakers: Kathy Fernando, PhD (Vice President and Head of Worldwide R&D and Medical Operations at Pfizer), Bill Sibold (EVP and Head of Sanofi Genzyme at Sanofi), and Dan Skovronsky, MD, PhD (Chief Scientific Officer, Senior Vice President of Science & Technology, and President of Lilly Research Labs at Eli Lilly). Kathy, Bill, and Dan are joined by other impressive panelists such as Sandy Macrae, MB, ChB, Ph.D., CEO at Sangamo Therapeutics; Anmol Madan, Chief Data Scientist at Teladoc Health; Geoffrey Von Maltzahn, MS, Ph.D., General Partner at Flagship Pioneering; and many others.

Additionally, the Sloan Healthcare Innovations Prize (SHIP) on February 25, 2021 is a pitch competition open to student entrepreneurs innovating in the healthcare space. The mission of this competition is to support early-stage healthcare start-ups by providing feedback from experienced industry professionals, workshops to help launch their business, and a chance to compete for over $20,000 in prize money. Finalists for the SHIP pitch competition will present their winning ideas during the conference. Prominent judges from top VC firms such as Flare Capital Partners, Bain Capital Ventures, the Engine, Third Rock, and many others will attend the event.

MIT SHBC thanks its title sponsor, Pfizer; Gold sponsors Intersystems, Sanofi, Janssen (a Johnson & Johnson Company), and Rock Springs Capital; Silver sponsor Putnam Associates; and Bronze sponsors MIT Health Systems Initiative, MIT Industrial Liaisons Program, and Hercules Bioventure Partners.
